Hello and welcome to Hern Therapy. I'm Steph, an Integrative counsellor working online from my home in Leicestershire.
I use a variety of different approaches to therapy, depending on your needs and aims. However, creating a safe, trusting and meaningful relationship with my clients underpins everything I do. This means I listen to you with compassion, care and curiosity. It's important that you feel able to talk about whatever you want without feeling judged in any way so that you can make the changes you want and feel better - whatever that looks and feels like for you.
I offer long-term therapy, meaning you can take your time to explore what's going on for you. You might already know what that is, or it might take some time to get to the heart of it. Not limiting the number of sessions you have means you can do this at your own pace.
I have worked as a counsellor since qualifying with a Level 4 Diploma in 2023, both in private practice and for a charity serving the LGBTQ+ community. Since then, I have qualified as a clinical supervisor, working with other counsellors to support their clients safely and effectively.
I work with clients aged 16+ from a range of different backgrounds including age, race, faith, gender and sexual-orientation. I aim to offer a safe and therapeutic space for all, regardless of who you are or your background. I have a wealth of experience working with clients who identify as LGBTQIA+ and individuals who are, or identify as neurodivergent. I can also work therapeutically with a variety of other difficulties you might face such as depression, anxiety, work stress, family and relationship issues, abuse, trauma and bereavement.
Alongside this, I have worked in various training centres, tutoring student-counsellors on their own journeys to become qualified therapists. These roles combined means I am always developing and growing my professional skills, ensuring the service I offer my clients incorporates a wide range of up-to-date and effective approaches.
I am a full member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. The BACP guides my work, ensuring you are always the first and foremost consideration and that I work ethically and safely.
